My goal for this piece was to create a graceful blend of human and animal that didn't come off as just another type of furry. I'm not sure I entirely succeeded, but I still enjoyed working on this piece. They are meant to be a mix of human and the many types of egrets and herons I've seen while living in Florida.
These two are members of species that live on a continent entirely covered in 2 to 10 feet of water. Narrow, towering islands of rock dot the landscape, resembling great archways, spires, and castles. They create woven cities on the tower islands, elaborate arrangements of reeds halfway between birds' nests and houses.
